Obituary of Ralph Ivan Williams

Ralph I. Williams, age 93, longtime resident of Mendham passed away on Friday, April 19, 2013. Ralph was born on August 29, 1919 in Scranton,PA. Following graduation from high school he proudly enlisted and served in the United States Army during WWII. During his service he was promoted to the rank of Captain. After the War Ralph and his wife Margaret Elizabeth moved to Mendham where they became actively involved in the community. Ralph served on the Borough Council, the Planning Board, the Board of Adjustments and the Board of Education. Ralph was a graduate of Wharton School of Business and theUniversityofPennsylvania. Ralph was employed at Ortho Pharmaceutical, a division of Johnson & Johnson, for 46 years and continued as a consultant for Biotech until age 81. Since 1958 he shared his love, warmth, and exuberant charm with colleagues, friends, neighbors and community as Santa Claus. Even though he retired his red Santa Suit years ago he will forever be Santa to all he touched. Mr. Williams was predeceased by his wife Margaret, son David and brothers Harry, Thomas and Walter. He is survived by his daughters Janet Frye and Lois Williams; granddaughters Kasey Baker and Megan Frye; and his sister Helen Deitzer. Visitation with the family will be held on Friday, April 26, 2013 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Bailey Funeral Home 8 Hilltop Rd., Mendham. Services in celebration of his life are planned for Saturday, April 27, 2013 at 11:00 am at Hilltop Presbyterian Church,MendhamNJ.
