Obituary of Claire E. Jacobson

Claire E. Jacobson passed away on Feb 10, 2013 in Mendham, NJ. She was 81.

Born in Ossining, NY she lived in Ossining, North Tarrytown, and Pearl River NY, as well as Liberty Corner and Mendham, NJ. She resided in Mendham for more than 20 years.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, and a good friend to many. She was an avid reader, crossword puzzle enthusiast, and artist. A quiet leader, Claire was a mentor and role model, with a passion for life and people. She supported many friends at Alcoholics Anonymous during 32 years of sobriety. Claire was active in the Pearl River Jr. Women’s Club and the Brookside Women’s Club. She is a past president of both organizations.

Survivors include sons Andrew Jacobson (Nancy) of Mendham, and Peter Jacobson (Lisa) of Charlotte, NC, her previous husband Robert Jacobson of New Bern, NC, sister Gay Carnes of Pleasantville, NY and brother Jon Gatyas of CA. She is also survived by five granddaughters, and four nieces and nephews and their seven children.

Visitation is Thursday Feb. 14 from 2-4pm at the Bailey Funeral Home, 8 Hilltop Rd., Mendham. Funeral Service is at 4pm in the funeral home with the Rev. Joel Biggers officiating. Interment Private in Hilltop Cemetery.
