Obituary of Patricia D. D'Emidio

Patricia D. D’Emidio of Mendham and Lavallette, NJ, 61 Patricia D. D'Emidio (nee Picone), 61 died after a courageous 7 year battle with breast cancer on January 30, 2013 surrounded by her loving family at St. Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston. Born and raised in Newark she moved to Mendham Township 27 years ago. Patty was a graduate of the Elliot Street School and Barringer High School in Newark. Before becoming a full time Mom she worked as a legal secretary. Her family will remember her as a loving wife, mother and "Mimi" (Grandmother) who cherished spending time with her family. She loved having all of her family together for Christmas every year, in her home. She loved watching her 2 sons play ice hockey, so much so that she enjoyed waking up at 4am many mornings to take them to games and practices. In the Summer months she spent time on the beach in Lavallette with her family and friends, especially playing in the sand and eating ice cream with her granddaughters. Nothing made her happier. Survivors include her husband Sante D’Emidio of Mendham, one daughter; Gianna Bellomo and her husband Joseph of Morris Plains, two sons; Sandy D’Emidio of Flanders and his fiancé Rebecca Takach, and Anthony D’Emidio of Mendham, two grand-daughters Olivia and Ava Bellomo; her mother Rose Picone of Bloomfield; her brother Vincent Picone of Bloomfield; and her mother in law Jean D’Emidio of Newark. She was pre-deceased by her father, Vincent Picone, Sr. She is also survived by many other family members. As final act of courage, Patty passed on the gift of eyesight as an organ donor. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 1-5pm at the Bailey Funeral Home, 8 Hilltop Rd., Mendham. Funeral Mass Monday 10:30am at St. Joseph Church Mendham. Interment Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover.
