Obituary of Ghyslaine Mistretta

Ghyslaine Charlot Mistretta, 86, of Bridgewater, NJ, died on August 4, 2012. She was born on May 6, 1926 in Givet, France, the daughter of Suzanne and Robert Charlot. She is survived by her two sisters, Josette Bodart of Givet, France and Monique Guiot of Royan, France. Ghyslaine and her French family, like others of her generation went through the trauma of enduring the trials that World War II brought to occupied France. It was in Givet where she met the American soldier who was to become her husband, Caesar E. Mistretta. After the war they were married in Givet and soon thereafter she followed her husband back to America where they settled in Brooklyn, NY. Ghyslaine was known for her affable personality and tremendous sense of humor. She was a sensational cook who loved nothing more than to prepare wonderful meals for her friends and family. Dinner was always followed by several of her many jokes and lots of laughter. She is survived by her son, Caesar V. Mistretta and his partner, John M. Stringer of Far Hills, NJ; her son and daughter-in-law, Robert and lrene Mistretta of Whitestone, NY; and her son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Barbara Mistretta of Bear, DE. She is also survived by her grandchildren and spouses, Constance and Frank LoSauro, Caesar V. Jr. and Martha Mistretta, Robert Mistretta Jr., Cynthia and Joseph Steele, Dorothy and Christopher Green, Ronald Jr. and Summer Mistretta and John M. Mistretta. Great-grandchildren, Kaitlin, Destin, Treasure, Amanda, Marley and Ronald III. A Funeral Mass will be held at Christ the King Church in New Vernon, NJ at 12:30 pm on August 21 and a private burial service at All Saints Cemetery in Wilmington on August 23.
