Obituary of Sister Joanna Pappicco
MENDHAM - Sister Joanna Pappicco SCC entered into her eternal reward at Geisinger Hospital in Danville, PA on Sunday August 5, 2012. Sister was 80 years old.
Sister Joanna (Dolores) Pappicco was born on June 7, 1932 in Jersey City, New Jersey, to the late Anna (Mastrangelo) and John Pappicco. She is survived by one brother, Gabriel.
She entered the Postulancy on August 31, 1947, was invested as a novice on August 21, 1948, and pronounced her Perpetual Vows on August 20, 1956.
During her 62 years of religious life, Sister Joanna spent 18 years in elementary school either as a teacher or as a principal. Beginning in 1969, she held various leadership positions: Provincial Councilor, Provincial Superior, Juniorate Directress, Vocation Moderator, Novice Directress, a teacher in Assumption College for Sisters, and a moderator with the Companions of Pauline. In June of this year, sister retired to Holy Family Convent in Danville, PA.
The Mass of the Resurrection will be offered on Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at 11:00 AM at the Sisters of Christian Charity Motherhouse, Mallinckrodt Convent, 350 Bernardsville Road, Mendham. Viewing hours will take place in the convent chapel on Tuesday, August 7, 2012 from 2:00 PM until 9:00 PM.
