Obituary of James Errico

James Errico, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on August 28th at the age of 73. Born in Newark, New Jersey, on June 17, 1951, James was the son of the late Carmine and Florence Errico. Raised in Newark and Belleville, he carried the values of hard work, wisdom, and resilience throughout his life.

James was a devoted father to his two sons, Patrick (married to Michelle) and James (married to Anna). He was a guiding presence in their lives, offering wisdom and advice right up until his passing. Tough and discerning, James was the kind of man who was hard to fool, always pushing his sons to strive for excellence and make the right decisions. He was also a proud grandfather to Gianna, Patrick, James, and Julia.

Professionally, James was a district manager at Littman Jewelers, where he was consistently recognized as a top performer. He was often entrusted with turning around struggling stores, a task he handled with skill and dedication.

He was married to the love of his life, Mary Errico (née Baker), who predeceased him. Their bond was unbreakable, and even after her passing, James cherished every moment they shared and the life they built together. Together, they overcame his serious automobile accident in the early 1980s, fighting through a myriad of health issues. Their love story remains a testament to their enduring connection.

A man of many talents, James took pride in improving his homes for his family’s benefit, reflecting his determination and independent spirit. He especially loved spending time down the shore with his family, creating memories on the beach, and ending the week with a delicious Sunday dinner that he prepared with love. James remained self-reliant right up until his passing.

Through his children, James was active in the athletics community of Hillsborough, NJ where he lived with his family since 1986. James was always willing to volunteer and lend a helping hand; his kindness and generosity were known by many.

James is survived by his sons James and Patrick, mother Florence, and his siblings, Nancy Fiore, John, and Ronald. He was predeceased by his wife Mary, father Carmine, brother Carmine, and sister Patricia.

A visitation will be held at Bailey Funeral Home in Mendham, NJ on Friday, September 13th from 4-8 pm and a Memorial Mass will be held at St. Joseph Church Chapel in Mendham on Saturday, September 14 at 10:30 am.
