Virginia Baldwin Mahood (nee Osborn) passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, August 3, 2024 after a brief illness. She was 79 years old.

Virginia was born in Plainfield, NJ and graduated from Green Mountain College. She was employed by Pan American Airways as an Executive Secretary, where she met her husband James. They were married in 1973 in Darien, CT, and raised two children, Elizabeth and Jim. After relocating to Paris, France with her family for her husband’s employment, she attended L’Ecole Le Cordon Bleu and graduated with a certificat de cuisine de base. She continued to pursue her passion for cooking over the years.

Subsequently, upon returning to the US, she was employed by the Seeing Eye as an Executive Secretary, whence she adopted several dogs over the years.

In her retirement, she enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren, watercolor painting, travel with her husband and volunteering at hospice of Morris County, soup kitchens and pet therapy.

She is survived by her husband James, her daughter Elizabeth Savona (Mahood), her son James Brewster, her son-in-law Frank Savona, grandchildren Kathryn, Emily and Andrew, and her brother William Osborn.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 8th from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at Bailey Funeral Home, 176 Main Street, Peapack. A funeral service will take place on Friday, August 9th, 10:30 am at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 182 Main Street, Gladstone. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Nourish NJ.
