Obituary of Wesley M Bennett

Wesley M. Bennett passed away on May 26, 2024. He was 81 years old.

Born in Moscow, PA, to his late parents Clay and Mary (Mott) Bennett, Wes lived in Morristown, Bernardsville, and Long Valley, before recently settling in Hackettstown. He was a man of faith and a parishioner of St. Luke Parish in Long Valley, where he recently became confirmed into the Catholic Church. He was known to many as a humble man who valued being a traditional gentleman. Wes was a “Mr. Fix It” who enjoyed home improvement projects along with lending a hand to family and friends.

Wes served in the United States Air Force as a meteorologist. Following his time in the service, Wes worked for various local businesses and hardware stores in the area. Additionally, he operated multiple hardware related private businesses, including most recently, Construction Materials Supply Co.

Wes was fond of wildlife and nature and taking trips with his wife to observe the changing fall foliage. He was a lover of history with specific interests in the Civil War and World War II. He enjoyed being at home with his wife sitting in front of the fire listening to classical music or watching a movie. Spending time with his family brought him much happiness.

Wes is survived by his beloved wife of 37 years, Maryann (Fanton) Bennett; children, Donald Bennett (Heather), and Cynthia Stibick; daughter-in-law Patti; stepchildren, Michael Deo (Jen), Lisa Lewis (Jon), Gina Mencl (Brian), Lynn Fraumann (Alex), Lori Ebert (John), and Patti Deo (JT Rehill); sisters Maidie Ward (Peter), Florence Adams (Ed), and Jeanette Welsh (Tom); brother David Bennett (Diane); sister-in-law Mary; brothers-in-law Bob Fullagar, and Angelo
Fanton (Patty); many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his son Douglas Bennett, brother Clay Bennett, and sister Nancy Fullagar.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 2 from 1 to 5 pm at the Bailey Funeral Home, 8 Hilltop Road, Mendham NJ. A Funeral Mass will take place on Monday, June 3 at 12 pm at St. Luke Parish, 265 W Mill Rd, Long Valley, NJ 07853.
