Obituary of Vivian Caroline Morrison

Vivian Caroline Morrison passed away on March 21, 2024, surrounded by her family. She was 88 years old.

Born in Englewood, NJ to parents Curtis D. and Mildred (Sakariasen) Hill, Vivian grew up in Jersey City and lived in East Brunswick, Chester and Pittsford, NY before settling in Basking Ridge, NJ in 1993. She was a longtime member of Grace Lutheran Church in Mendham, where she served as the Head of the Altar Guild and sang in the choir for many years.

Vivian had a green thumb and shared her love of flowers with several gardening groups. She was a member of and served as President and many other positions for the Basking Ridge Garden Club and the East Brunswick Garden Club.  Vivian also served as President of the Garden Club of New Jersey. She made many lifelong friends through these clubs, shared her knowledge of and passion for flowers and arrangements through the workshops she organized and brought joy and color into the lives of others through her involvement. Vivian also very much enjoyed time spent with her family and she cherished her relationships with her many Norwegian cousins.

Vivian is predeceased by her loving husband of 45 years, the late Andrew R. Morrison and is survived by her daughter, KariMorrison, grandson Andrew James Morrison, brother David (Diane) Hill, niece Stephanie (Mark) Hingston and her daughter Abigail (Andrew) Dean, nephew David M. (Andrea) Hill and his daughters Jenna and Christina Hill, and her special friend Joan McGovern.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 26, from 3-7 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home, 8 Hilltop Road, Mendham NJ. A funeral service will take place on Wednesday, March 27, at 11 AM at Grace Lutheran Church, 65 E. Main Street, Mendham NJ, immediately followed by a burial in Hilltop Cemetery, where Vivian will be laid to rest with her beloved husband. A repast at Grace Lutheran Church will follow.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Vivian’s memory may be made to Grace Lutheran Church, online or by mail at the above address.
