Obituary of Philip A Burrows
Philip Andruss Burrows passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on July 10,2023. He was 86 years old.
Born in Brooklyn, NY, to George Pollard and Ethel (Andruss) Burrows, the family left Brooklyn to move to New Jersey to Connecticut Farms (Union) and then settled in Summit.
Phil attended the Pingry School in Elizabeth playing on the Soccer and Track teams and making life-long friendships. After moving on to Lehigh University, he served his country in the National Guard.
He loved all things with a motor, taking great pleasure in his boats, motorcycle and most especially cars and ultimately his vintage truck.
Working at Road and Track and Car and Driver magazines at CBS Publication, Phil’s passions for cars and love of work blended perfectly. Even in his retirement he was able to continue his experiences working at the CEM Auto Museum.
Phil is survived by his wife Nancy and sons Russ (Katie) and Todd (Sarah) and their children, Diana, John, Charlie and Jane, and sisters Judy Sutton and Susan Tierney (James) and brother-in-law Gary Rae, nieces Leslie McFadden and Kristen Haber (Matthew), Julie Diamond (Michael) and nephews Austin and Kyle Rae,and many beloved grand nieces and nephews.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations in his name be made to The Michael J Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research or First Presbyterian Church of New Vernon, 2 Lees Hill Road New Vernon, or the charity of your choice.
