Obituary of Kathleen A. Bockoven

Kathleen A. Bockoven passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on February 27, 2023. She was 90 years old. She was born and raised in Morristown, NJ and graduated from Morristown High School, Class of 1951. Upon graduating, she was employed by the New Jersey Telephone Co. of Morristown.

She met and married her sweetheart, Donald N. Bockoven. Upon his return from the Korean War, they bought their first home to raise their family. Kathleen continued to help care for her family through the years by working at the Old Farmer’s Road School, Gordon Publications, Crum and Foster Insurance Company and Budd Moving Company.

Her family was her biggest treasure. Her greatest joy was in raising her children and sharing handwritten letters of love with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She shared her love through delicious homemade meals and desserts with family, friends and neighbors. She was an avid reader, knitter and loved making things for her family. Kathleen had a contagious, happy and wonderful smile, always sharing her love of life with everyone she met, with the kindest of eyes and the warmest of hearts. She is loved and adored by everyone who knows her.

Her deep and abiding faith guided her to live her life with kindness, service and love, always believing the best in others. She was a member of the Long Valley Presbyterian Church where she taught Sunday School and enjoyed the fellowship amongst the families.

Kathleen was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Donald N. Bockoven, her parents, Kathleen (Gannon) and Clifford Armitage, her brother Clifford Armitage Jr. and her twin sister, Natalie A. Leiter. She is survived by her children: James E. Bockoven and his wife Susan, Cathy J. Carver and her husband Bill, Donald N. Bockoven Jr. and his wife Laura, Ruth Anne Consoli and her husband Jack, sixteen grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and her loving family including her sister-in-laws Helen, Elsie and Cheryl and her nieces and nephews.

Her viewing will be held on Sunday, March 5th from 1:00pm to 5:00pm at the Bailey Funeral Home, 8 Hilltop Rd, Mendham, followed by a funeral service on Monday, March 6th at 11:00am.
