Sr Maria Assumpta was my teacher and school principal when I attended St Cecilia's School in Rockaway class of '69. We had about 50 students in our class. Often she would have to leave us to attend to her principal duties. I often wonder how she was able to handle both duties, especially since we had such a large class. I do not remember her ever raising her voice. She was soft spoken .. genius on her part because we had to be quiet so we could hear her! Rest in Peace Sister Maria Assumpta.

Sister Maria Assumpta was my 8th grade teacher, and principle of St. Cecilia when I went to grade school there. I remember her to be a wonderful teacher and a fair principal. She worked hard and had a LOT of responsibilities. I got an email from a friend Margaret Kowalski, not in my class, but she and her family went to St. Cecilia school and church, and unfortunately, I just read it a few minutes ago. If I read it yesterday, I would have loved to have attended her services. I saw the posting from Linda Peach (Durocher), who was in my class at St. Cecilia's in Rockaway. I also met with Annette Robinson (married name Varela) recently, and we talked about trying to find some of our classmates to have a reunion. If we ever do find a few more of us, it would be great, and we could talk about Sr. Maria Assumpta, she was one of my favorite teachers. May God bless her and her family, I'm sure she has a high place in heaven!

Sister was my 8th grade teacher and Principal. I lived and worked with her in the Bronx and at the Motherhouse. Sister was my mentor while studying finance in the Treasurer’s office. She was a personal support to me over many years. I will truly miss her.

I remember you loved to sing a hymn that called all who thirst to come to the Water...all the poor, the needy, all who had nothing to come to the Lord. Your gentle, kind ways brought to God all whom you served so kindly in His name. I love you and thank you for everything...only God knows just how to reward such a generous soul like yours, so gentle and full of love, courage and ever welcoming, warm smiles that so many times brought me peace and healing. Thank you... May the angels and our Blessed Mother Mary guide you to heaven. My heartfelt prayers for all your loved ones grieving for you, especially your family and SCC family. I especially remember on a very, momentous day in August of 1991 when we all sang with one heart and one soul our fiat song in Chapel, ..."Let it be, yes let it be! As you will so let it be done! Though I do not understand, my God is with me, this I do know." Thank you with all my heart for echoing this, Our Lady's prayer in your life and for touching my heart so deeply by your humble and dear example. I know we will meet at each Mass with praise and Thanksgiving.
