Obituary of Jeanne Murphy

Jeanne Murphy passed away peacefully with her family by her side at Morristown Medical Center on December 31, 2022. She was 66 years old.

Born in Teaneck, NJ, to parents George and Mary (Griffin) Murphy, Jeanne grew up in Brookside and lived in Boonton before settling in Columbia, NJ.

Jeannie excelled in school and loved learning. When Jeannie was in her late teens she was diagnosed with schizophrenia. Despite going through some very difficult times, Jeannie loved landscaping, gardening, volunteering, and taking classes as well as her cat Sponge. She spent a lot of time caring for her community through town clean ups.

Jeanne is predeceased by her parents, the late George and Mary “Pat” Murphy, and her brother Michael Murphy. She will be greatly missed by her sisters Maura Mowbray, Megan Murphy and her husband Eric Teed; brothers Brian Murphy and his wife Nancy, John Murphy and his late wife Judi, David Murphy and his wife Kamilla; ten nieces and nephews; and eleven great nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 18, from 11 am to 12 pm at the Bailey Funeral Home, 8 Hilltop Rd, Mendham, immediately followed by a 12:15 pm service in the funeral home. Inurnment will follow at Hilltop Cemetery.
