Obituary of Floyd Butturff
Floyd George Butturff, age 80, passed away from natural causes at his home with his family by his side in Gladstone, NJ on Sunday, August 14, 2022.
A memorial service will he held at 3pm, on Tuesday, September 20,2022 with a reception immediately following at the Peapack Reformed Church in Gladstone.
Floyd is survived by his wife, Sandra; his son John(Ruth) Butturff of Las Vegas, NV; two daughters, Susan Gates and Melissa (Chip) Kaffer of Henderson, NV; his stepdaughter Kristin (Jim) Sonneborn of Gladstone, NJ; and grandchildren, Savannah McBride of Nashville, TN, Tanner McBride of Las Vegas, NV, Jakob Butturff of Tempe, AZ, Mitchell and Blake Dakin of Gladstone, NJ.
Born June 2, 1942 in Rochester, MN, Floyd was raised in Byron, MN and graduated from Byron High School in 1960. He began working for the State of MN at the Rochester State Hospital providing care for mentally ill and developmentally disabled adults for 20 years. In 1981 Floyd Sandra and Kristin moved to Hawick, MN to purchase the Holiday Resort on Long Lake in partnership with Linda and Joe Musel and their son Wylie.
For 35 years Floyd managed the resort enjoying the physical work of maintaining the cabins and campsites. It gave him opportunities for fishing and developing friendships with the wonderful guests.
Floyd was known for his love of card playing, lawn mower riding, hunting, coin collecting and interest in antiques. He was also an avid Keno slot machine player when visiting his children and grandchildren in Las Vegas.
In 2016 he and his wife Sandra moved to NJ for the opportunity to live closer to family.
