Danny and I became good friends from the moment we met, approximately 15 years ago. Even though we lived miles apart he remained a dear, faithful buddy during all of that time, with us exchanging occasional visits, phone calls, many e-mails, and annual birthday cards. Having not spoken to him for several months, I phoned him tonight, only to find that all his phone numbers were disconnect. Searching further, I found this obituary. This shocking and sad new. Even though he was not part of my daily life, I will miss this wonderfully complex and sweet soul. I'm sure his students will miss him--he was so proud of them.
