We send our love and sympathy to my cousins and their family for the great physical loss of their mother, my Aunt Charlene. I know, however, that they will hold all of their wonderful memories of her close to their hearts which I hope will give them a deep comfort. My Aunt Charlene was a beautiful and loving person. Whenever I was in her presence I felt her light and love.
When I was in the 7th grade, she took me on a road trip with her and my cousins to Boston to see the Jordan Marsh Christmas Village. It was a very memorable experience because I had never been out of Vermont . We stayed with my cousin Maureen who lived in an apartment on Comm Ave which was very exciting because Maureen, like my Aunt Charlene, was beautiful and a role model for me. We took the MBTA, had the famous Jordan Marsh blueberry muffins and stood in a very long line of excited children to see the spectacular Christmas Village. The whole experience to this day is a cherished memory. Another loving and amazing memory of my Aunt Charlene is that for 65 years she never missed sending me or my brothers birthday cards. They always arrived on or a little before our birthday and we all looked forward to receiving them. No one, other than my mother, has ever done that. To do that takes commitment and love! My Aunt Charlene was an inspiration to me to live fully and offer myself to all that life has to offer - education, travel, love - in spite of any difficulties. Peace be with her and her family.
