Obituary of Alfred James Ricciardi

Alfred James Ricciardi Sr. of Mendham and Silver Beach NJ, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Easter evening.

Alfred was the only son of Alfred F. and Marie (nee Aldi) Ricciardi and the brother of the late Joan Huber.

Alfred grew up in Newark NJ and attended St Leo’s Church and Schools where he began many lifelong friendships and met his future wife, Judith Brophy.  He graduated from Seton Hall University, married his high school sweetheart Judy and embarked on what was to be a loving and happy marriage of 62 years.

Alfred and Judy were blessed with 5 children: 4 Sons- Alfred (Debbie) Mendham, James (the late Cecilia) Mendham, Joseph (Barbara) Ridgewood, NJ, Michael, Mendham and 1 Daughter- Suzanne (Steven) New Milford, CT. 

Alfred spent his entire life working in the various capacities of the financial industry.  He had the daily joy of having his oldest son Al join him at work.  He enjoyed his work tremendously and said it never felt like a job to him.  He continued going to his office until shortly before his death.

Alfred was an avid reader, connoisseur of fine food and wine, a determined runner and loved a challenging Poker game.  But his greatest joy- besides just being with his family- was a beautiful, hot sunny day spent out on his back patio. 

Alfred is already greatly missed by his wife Judy, his children and their spouses, his 14 grandchildren and his lifelong friends.  He will be remembered most for his wise advice, extreme loyalty to family and friends and incredible generosity.

Visitation will be held at Bailey Funeral Home, 8 Hilltop Road, Mendham, NJ on Thursday, April 21st from 4-8pm.  Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, April 22nd at 11am, St Joseph Church, West Main Street, Mendham.  Entombment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Ridgedale Ave, East Hanover, NJ.
