Obituary of Carol W McCarthy

Carol W. McCarthy passed away peacefully on March 30, 2022, at age 85. After graduating from Marymount Manhattan College and receiving her Master's degree, Carol taught honors history and English in the New York City public school system. She devoted her life to raising her daughters Ann, Denise, and Caroline in Tenafly, NJ. After her youngest went to college, she refined her oil painting skills, exhibiting her work and qualifying as an artist member of the Salmagundi Art Club in Manhattan. She was predeceased by her husband Dr. John McCarthy and sister Anne Martin. Carol moved to Mendham in 2005, where she continued to enjoy bridge, book groups, travel, theater, and art museums. She was a devoted parishioner of St. Joseph’s Church in Mendham. Carol will be deeply missed by the rest of her family, including her sons-in-law Alan, Carter, and Jon as well as her grandchildren David, Tom, Lauren, Peter, Caroline, Michael, and Brian.

A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, April 9th, 10:15 AM at St. Joseph’s Church, 8 W. Main St., Mendham, NJ 07945. (Livestream available through the following link: Carol W. McCarthy Funeral Mass.) Burial to follow immediately at Mount Carmel Cemetery, Tenafly, NJ.
