Joan Ellen Scher passed away on March 19, 2022. She was 86 years old.
Born in East Orange, NJ, to parents Stanley and Grace May (Kathan) Pinhero, Joan relocated to Bedminster with her family and has been a longtime resident. She was a woman of faith and a parishioner of St. Brigid Church in Peapack for many years.
Joan was an avid horsewoman, riding side saddle for her many years of competing and hunting. She was a philanthropist and dedicated much of her time and energy to many charities like the USET Foundation, the Gladstone Equestrian Association and Sharing Village (Driving for Surviving). Joan was also a Director at Weber & Scher Mfg. Co. until her retirement and was a D.C. of the Somerset Hills Pony Club for many years. Joan traveled throughout the world. She always enjoyed visiting new countries and experiencing the local cultures.
A devoted wife and loving mother, Joan is predeceased by her husband, Joseph William Scher, and is survived by her sons, Douglas (Ann) and Greg (Lee) Scher, as well as six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, April 6, at 10:30 AM at St. Brigid Church, 129 Main Street, Peapack NJ 07977, followed by burial at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover. In lieu of flowers, donations in Joan’s memory may be made to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset.
