Eddie I remember all the great times Margene and I had partying with you, Mimi, and your next door neighbor, Mattix’s . Always remembered you came home exhausted from working all day on a Saturday and would get ready to party late into the evening. We would end up sometimes at one of our three homes listening to music and dancing. At times we would go to the Black Horse Inn for dinner. And you always seemed to know everyone. The three couples would also enjoy dinner on special occasions like birthdays and holidays and also around your pool in the summer even though the water was always very cold. You always had a fun personality who loved to tease people.. I remember times you had me help asphalting driveways and helping you shovel snow near your apartments in Mendham. It was always a different but enjoyable time when working with you. Sorry, we did not see much of you after moving to New Hampshire. I have no idea whether Margene or I suggested the Peapack Gladstone Episcopal church where you became good friends with John Morrow. Eddie, I am sure John will miss you as we all will. May you rest in peace my good friend.

Saddened to see this. Ed was a Morristown HS 1959 classmate of mine. Heartfelt condolences to Ed's family.

So many wonderful memories of Ed over the years! He was a life mentor to me in a way because as hard and as driven as that man was, he did life with humor! That stuck with me. I admired that character in him and for that loved to be on those paving jobs on Saturday’s. Probably not his best part time employee but I tried my best as Ed provided jobs to many young kids growing up in the area and paid well to boot. Ed, “Pewee, I’ve laid more black top down than you’ve driven on!” Thanks for the jobs Ed, the fact is I would have worked for free on some of those days, I was having so much fun! I loved to ride in the dump trucks with him and get his take on life or events of the day. I was one of the original, “Sally’s!” Ed and the Merton’s were generous and Kind to me over the years and it is with such great sadness Marc and Chris that I learned of his passing this morning. Hugs to you both at this difficult time. Love your old friend- Jimbo James Pewitt
