Obituary of Michael J. Marelli, Sr.

Michael J. Marelli, Sr. passed away on January 27, 2022. He was 88 years old.

Born in Peapack, NJ, to parents Michael and Rachel (DeBiase) Marelli, Michael was a resident of Chester for many years before settling in Hackettstown 23 years ago. He was a man of faith and a parishioner of St. Lawrence Church for many years.

Michael owned and operated the Windy Acres Mobile Home Park in Chester. He was very involved in his community, volunteering with the Chester Volunteer Fire Company and serving as a Councilman in Chester Borough for 9 years. When he wasn’t providing for his family and community, Michael loved to watch baseball and cheer on the New York Yankees.  He had a passion for helping his boys restore antique cars.  

Michael is predeceased by his wife, Marie, and sister, Diane Burans. He is survived by his sons, Michael (Elizabeth) and Vincent Marelli, daughter Donna (Gary) Schall, and sisters Aurora Chiarolanzio and Linda Blaine.  He is also survived by his 8 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Thursday February 3, from 4-8 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home, 8 Hilltop Rd, Mendham, NJ, 07945. A Funeral Mass will take place on Friday, February 4, at 10 AM at St. Lawrence Church, 375 Main St, Chester, NJ 07930. Burial at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Chester will immediately follow. In lieu of flowers, donations in Michael’s memory may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
