Obituary of Elaine Mary Suhocki

Elaine Mary Suhocki, 70, of Mendham, NJ, a former nurse and educator, died Sept. 21, 2011 of complications from breast cancer. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at the Church of St. Joseph, 6 New Street, Mendham, NJ, on Sat. Sept. 24, at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Hilltop Cemetery, Mendham. Relatives and friends are invited to visit at Bailey Funeral Home, 8 Hilltop Road, Mendham, on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. She was born to the late George and Rose Zboyan, June 25, 1941, in Newark, NJ. Elaine graduated from Bailey Ellard High School in 1959 and received her Registered Nursing certification from St. Joseph's Hospital in Paterson. Elaine later returned to school to complete her BS in Biology from Monmouth College. She married Vincent Suhocki, Jr. in 1965, and they lived together in Eatontown, NJ, before relocating to Mendham in 1982. Elaine was the nurse and a health educator at Villa Walsh Academy in Morristown, NJ until she retired in 2004, and was passionate about creating a comforting and nurturing environment for her students. She was honored for generous and outstanding service.Elaine was an active member of both the Church of St. Joseph and the Brookside Engine Company #1 Ladies Auxiliary. She loved to bake, was a voracious reader and crossword puzzler, and enjoyed traveling at home and abroad with her husband. Elaine valued her relationships with her close friends and extended family, but her greatest love in life was spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren. Elaine was the beloved wife of 46 years to Vincent Suhocki, Jr. A devoted mother and grandparent, Elaine is survived by four children: Catherine Suhocki, of Brooklyn, NY; Vincent Suhocki, III, and his wife Michele, of Loveland, OH; Elizabeth Suhocki, and her husband Jon Maass, of Dobbs Ferry, NY; and Stephan Suhocki, of Bedminster, NJ. She also is survived by four grandchildren, and her dear sister, Carol Preston of Madison, NJ. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made out to Atlantic Home Care & Hospice, 33 Bleeker Street, Millburn, NJ 07041.
