Obituary of Agatha Grassi

Agatha Grassi passed away on January 19, 2022 at the age of 91 years old.

Born in Brooklyn, NY, to parents Anthony and Rose (Santoro) Fragomeni. Agatha grew up in Bay Ridge before moving to Mendham, NJ, where she resided for 67 years. She relocated to Netcong in 2014 and split her time between New Jersey and Key West, Florida.

During her time living in Mendham, Agatha was involved in her community. She was a woman of faith and was a parishioner of St. Joseph’s Church. She volunteered her time with the Mendham Fire Department’s Women’s Auxiliary. Agatha worked as the bookkeeper for Bantams Variety Store in Mendham and Hillsboro for 30 years. Agatha loved to sew, cook, and enjoy a good glass of red wine.

Agatha is predeceased by her beloved husband of 62 years, the late Joseph Grassi and her brother Joseph Fragomeni. She is survived by her sons Richard and his wife Lynn Grassi, Joseph Grassi, and daughter Sandra Beaumont and her late husband, Dirk; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Monday, January 24, from 4-8 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home, 8 Hilltop Rd, Mendham NJ. A Funeral Mass will take place on Tuesday, January 25, at 10:30 AM at St. Joseph Church, W. Main St, Mendham. Interment at the Mendham Hilltop Cemetery will immediately follow Mass. In lieu of flowers, donations in Agatha’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
