Obituary of Martin A Geisel

Martin A Geisel Professional Engineer Martin A. Geisel died peacefully with family on Sept. 18, 2011. He was 75. Born in Floral Park, NY, he grew-up in Ridgewood, NJ playing lacrosse and basketball, graduating from Ridgewood H.S. He and his wife of 52 years Marie raised their two children in Watchung, NJ before moving to Bedminster 11 years ago. He also maintained a summer residence on Long Beach Island where he enjoyed time with his family and celebrated a Thanksgiving tradition. Mr. Geisel earned both undergraduate and graduate science degrees in Engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology, Hoboken. He also held the designation of Professional Engineer. He was an Air Force veteran entering as a 2nd Lieutenant in 1958 and was Honorably Discharged in 1967 as a Captain in the Air Force Reserves. He worked for Proctor & Gamble in Staten Island for over 30 years. He then started a consulting firm M.A.G. Consulting where he worked for the next five years. He was a past board member of the Knollcrest Neighborhood Assoc. in Bedminster and was an avid bridge and tennis player. Recently, he had been taking adjunct courses in philosophy, literature and digital media at Fairleigh Dickinson University. Mr. Geisel completed the New York Marathon in 1986. He was predeceased by his son Gregory S. Geisel and sister Elaine Pitzalis. Survivors include his wife Marie Angioletti Geisel, his son Thomas X. Geisel, his daughter Dr. Gia Marson and his six grandchildren Thomas, Emma, Nicolas, Sarah, Ana Maria, and Alexander. In the words of his grandchildren he is remembered as "magnanimous, joyful, unconditionally loving and accepting, fair, young at heart, tranquil, lighthearted, and free." Visitation will be held on Friday from 2-4 & 7-9pm and Saturday 10-11am at the Bailey Funeral Home, 176 Main St., Peapack. Funeral Mass Saturday 11:30 am at St. Elizabeth Parish in Far Hills.
