Obituary of Joan C Rice

Joan passed away on April 28, 2021. She left this world suddenly in her lovely home at the age of 81. Joan Rice looked forward to early retirement from AT&T Technologies in 1995 at the young age of 56. She and her childhood BFF, best friend forever, Charlotte Furman, enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and abroad on many wonderful and exciting trips. Retirement did not slow down the gals, they were both very busy planning trips and enjoyed their hard earn retirement years surrounded by friends and their adored furry companions. Joan had the uncanny ability to find joy and happiness in her daily activities which included reading novels and listing to music with an occasional glass of white
wine. She was always happy to chat on the phone and share her life stories and looked forward to what the future would bring. Her cheerful and positive personality was contagious to everyone she met. She will be sadly missed by all her friends and neighbors that she dearly loved and especially her BFF, Charlotte.

A graveside committal service will be held on Tuesday, May 25, at 10 AM at Hilltop Cemetery, 18 Hilltop Rd, Mendham NJ 07945. In lieu of flowers, your presence is much appreciated.  Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to your favorite charity or to one of Joan’s favorite charities: St. Hubert’s Animal Welfare Center in Madison, NJ, Mendham Borough First Aid Squad, Mendham NJ, Mendham Borough Library or  Mendham Area Senior Housing Corporation, Mendham NJ.
