Ricki Stochaj was a very warm and dedicated person. Ricki volunteered for Consumers League of New Jersey for several decades, possibly for forty years.
Volunteers for Consumers League lived long lives, with much accomplished after retirement.
Ricki was President of CLNJ from 1971 to 1975, then Treasurer for many years, and never stopped being a CLNJ Board member.
Some of her letters are catalogued in the CLNJ collection at Rutgers University Library, New Brunswick.
For years, Ricki never missed the CLNJ Annual Meeting in Montclair, sometimes bringing a puppy.
Ricki was a bridge between an older generation of CLNJ leaders, such as Susanna Zwemer, Alice Ruotolo, Mary L. Dyckman on the one hand, and then Fred Stecher, Bob Russo and I who came later.
Rickie never gave up an optimism that consumers had to organize, complain to those in power, and that when we did, that good things were possible.
Even if she had a long list of new forms of consumer fraud, "look what they are doing now," it was always a joy to speak to Ricki,.
