Obituary of Robert W Lubrano
Robert W. Lubrano, of Randolph, NJ, passed away on April 6, 2021, at the age of 89.
Born in Brooklyn, NY, to Vincent and Katherine (nee Mahoney) Lubrano, Robert grew up in Lake Hiawatha, NJ. He served in the Air Force during the Korean War, stationed in Japan, and was a member of the American Legion. He achieved the rank of Staff Sargeant and was honorably discharged in 1955.
In June of 1963, he married Jacqueline Hole. They built a house in Randolph, in 1967, and proudly raised their 4 children, Treasa, Andrew, Kate, and Christine.
Robert was a skilled machinist, working for what would eventually become Honeywell. In his retirement, he invented and patented a laser. He also wrote and self-published two mystery novels: The Wrong Man and The Flat-Edged Coin Society. Robert enjoyed reading and watching mystery stories and cooking shows. He was known to experiment in the kitchen, creating unique and delicious dishes, many of which revolved around garlic. He loved to listen to Irish music and watch his 6 grandchildren grow up. He could be seen on the sidelines and in audiences, proudly cheering them on in their sports and dance activities.
Known by those who love him as Bob, he is remembered as having a wonderful sense of humor, a musical ear, a fondness for chocolate, a penchant for red socks, a passion for the Mets, and great love for God and his family. He was a devout and proud Catholic.
He is predeceased by his wife, Jackie, of 53 years, his son, Lance Corporal Andrew Lubrano, USMC, and his brother, Vincent Lubrano. Bob is survived by his daughters, Treasa Esposito, Kate (Wally) Hulsen and Christine (Rick) Benson, and his grandchildren, Gina, Joey, Sarah, Brenna, Meredith & Elise.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 13, from 5-7 pm, at Bailey Funeral Home, 8 Hilltop Rd, Mendham. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 14, at 10 am, at Immaculate Conception Church, 316 Old Allerton Rd, Annandale, NJ. Interment to follow at Holy Rood Cemetery, Morristown. In lieu of flowers, donations in Robert’s memory may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation www.parkinson.org.
