Obituary of Jean C McNally Allatta
Jean C. McNally Allatta passed away on Feb. 28, 2021. She was 93.
Born to parents Francis and Dona (DeVoe) McNally, Jean grew up in in East Orange, NJ, graduating from East Orange High School in 1945. She lived in Newark, Morris Township, and Brookside before moving to Mendham Borough in 2002.
Jean received her Bachelor’s Degree from Caldwell College in 1949 and her Master Degree from Jersey City State in the 1980s. She never stopped educating herself and those around her.
She was an elementary School Teacher for the Morris School District for nearly 30 years. She taught in the gifted and talented program, and touched the lives of hundreds of children giving them an education that will live with them forever. She was honored by the Star Ledger with a Crystal Apple award for her impact on students.
She was a longtime parishioner of St. Joseph Church in Mendham where she was on the Bethany Ministry, sang in the church choir, and in her favorite role interpreted and read as a Lector. She was a joyous member and officer of the Morris Choral Society, and a grateful volunteer at the Carol Simon Cancer Center.
She touched the lives of each of her Children, Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren; forever providing love, strength, encouragement, and support to all. Always giving. Always teaching.
She was predeceased by her daughter Kathleen Ann Allatta, son Robert Paul Allatta, and husband Philip John Allatta, Sr.
She is survived by her sons Joseph (Elizabeth) Allatta of FL, Paul (Peg) Allatta of Long Valley, NJ, PJ (Rebecca) Allatta of Menai, Australia, and daughter Joan Allatta of Mendham, NJ. She is also survived by her grandchildren Eric (Jill), Danielle (Chris), James, Bryan, Michael, Brendan, Kaylee, Renee, Charlotte, and great grandchildren Joy, Laurily, Angel, Bella, Bruce, and Rose.
Visitation will be held on Monday March 8, 2021 from 4-7pm at the Bailey Funeral Home, 8 Hilltop Rd., Mendham. Funeral Liturgy Tuesday 11 am at St. Joseph Church Mendham.
