Ingrid Kelly

Obituary of Ingrid R Kelly

Ingrid Rosa Kelly of Pottersville, NJ passed away peacefully on December 18, 2020.

She was born in Efferen Germany on October 25, 1940.  As a child, she grew up on a small farm surviving the horrors of war after her home was  destroyed in the Cologne bombings.

She emigrated to America  to at the age of 21, as an au-paire to an American family in Westchester. Like many others, Ingrid came to this country with dreams that appeared impossible, but her signature will, grit, passion and faith, made all of the dreams  come true.

She soon met the love of her life, Jack Kelly, at the first party she ever attended in the US that New Year’s Eve, and they were married just six months later in July, 1963.  Together they built a beautiful life for their family at Windsong Farm in Pottersville, New Jersey.

Ingrid was a woman of striking beauty and impeccable style and grace. Her home was exquisite, and everything she touched turned to beauty.

Ingrid was formidable.  She was quiet and observant, yet adamant with her opinions. She had an open heart, a kind spirit and was always generous with her good fortune.  People loved her.

We loved her and always will- we miss her already and that will always be. But we now all have an angel looking after us.

Ingrid was a devoted wife and mother and cherished her family more than anything in the world.  She is survived by the joys of her life, her loving husband Jack, married 58 years, her sons, John and Rob, her six grandchildren: Emma, Avery and Brigid Kelly of Chatham, New Jersey and Jaya, Lekh and Shail Kelly of Manhattan, New York, and her two daughters in-law Jennifer and Vidhya.

She was a member of St. Brigid Church RC in Peapack-Gladstone,  NJ and a member of the Papal Order of the Knights of the Holy Sepulchre.

In keeping with Ingrid Kelly’s legacy, the Ingrid Kelly Memorial Scholarship fund has been established in her honor to aid first generation college and vocational students.
