I did not know Mr. Wilhide personally, but I am also a descendent of the Willhide line. My GGP are Josiah Edward and Julia Susan Freeze Willhide. I just want to say how grateful I am for all the research he did. I have a copy of the video he made and all the family tree. This is such a treasure to have. I wish I had had the opportunity to meet this great man in person. God Bless.

I worked with Warren in 1964-5 at AT&T, 14th floor at 195 Broadway. I loved his sense of humor, and shared his love of Volkswagens. Sorry he's gone. My condolences to the family.

To the family of Warren Wilhide,
I had the greatest pleasure to meet Warren via email and texts early last year when I was researching my and my Fiance's
(Jeff (Wilhide) Norcott) family trees. We discovered that we both had a common grandfather from several centuries ago, "Black George" Willheit of Schwaigern, Germany. Since Warren was such an ancestry buff as I am, I was introduced to him through one of Jeff's Detour, Maryland cousins. Warren was THE expert on Willheit ancestry. He and I spent many months corresponding regularly. Through these trying times of a pandemic, our conversations were bright, memorable moments of camaraderie.
I want you to know what you have always known. He was an amazing, open, adventurous, sharing, loving man who will be greatly missed.

I wrote Warren recently to tell him I was impressed with his bio that I saw on Internet and for all the trips he and Carol took to make the article possible. I've know Warren since he was about 16 when he and my brother, Rollo, would take their rifles on a lengthy hike. My mom would drive them to a trail near Frederick and drop them off and the family always joked that they would find their way home. Carol and Warren got a degree from Johns Hopkins University together although the diploma was only in Warren's name. My son, James Rodney Dize, Jr. always enjoyed Warren's company whether Rodney was waiting for Warren alone on the NYC streets while Warren was working or whether is was sightseeing. Both loved the water and had fun at my Mom's home, in Sugar Loaf Key, FL. Lots of good memories. Warren's passing leave me the remaining relative from that family.

A LOVING HEARTFELT MESSAGE
FROM THE KNIERIM FAMILY FOR OUR BELOVED FRIEND, WARREN WILHIDE
As a close and dear friend of Warren’s for many years, my family and I were deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Warren.
Both Carol and Warren meant more to me than you know, but Warren especially, has been a part of my life for over 30 years and I will always cherish them both in my heart.
Warren was truly a father to me and I loved, cherished and respected him. There was nothing I would not do for him, nor would he for me. As he would often flatter me by saying I was a son to him, which I genuinely appreciated.
He lived an amazing life traveling the world which was so exciting...I was so envious. He and I would spend hours sitting and talking about his trips, our families and our lives. His words meant a great deal to me.
He and I would go weekly to Olive Garden, his favorite place and he would bring his coupons, though not being cheap, he knew the value of a dollar and I respected that.
He had that infectious smile and laughter, touching the hearts of many all around the world in his travels, but especially mine. My wife said it best, that “he is once again happy being reunited with his beloved wife, Carol”.
He will truly be missed by my entire family, as he was one of the nicest, kindest person we have known. May he rest in eternal peace knowing he was loved by many have had the pleasure whose lives crossed his path.
With our deepest sincerity,
Christopher and Bonita Knierim

So sorry to hear of your loss. Warren was a bundle of energy, enthusiasm and goodwill. He never stopped exploring and helping people throughout the world. He easily made new friends wherever he went and his wit and wisdom would light up any room.
Warren loved life and loved sharing life's moments with everyone around him and will be remembered forever for his many good deeds.

A Man of All Seasons
Rarely, are there those amongst us
who rise above the pedestrian clutter,
of what we call conformity.
These are “special ones”, who can harness the wind, as their rudder.
These are the people who ascend the highest mountains,
and swim the raging seas,
people, who go beyond mortal expectation,
who can create turbulence, where there is, only breeze.
Warren Wilhide was such a man -
a man among men
who dared venture into other worlds,
and see promise, beyond mortal ken.
A Cousteau, he pried the seven seas.
A Gandhi, he championed the poor.
A Reagan, he acknowledged the universe.
A Martin Luther, he opened many doors.
His journey took him to many lands,
lands that many feared, and were sorely afraid.
His compassion, empathy, and love,
his enduring assistance, his many crusades.
Warren was a groundbreaker,
in every sense of the word.
Never once did he fear for himself -
he was loved by many, his voice, it was heard.
Helping others in their time of need,
reaching out to those in distress, the hurt, the hungry, and those suffering in pain.
Traveling to the earthquake-ravaged shores of Haiti,
following the paths, of the Asian tsunami rains.
Such is the legend, the legacy,
of this father, brother, friend, whom we called Warren,
a man who lived greater, than most men we will ever know,
whether it be here at home, or in exotic lands foreign.
Warren will be remembered for the man he was,
and, though like Elliot, Whitman, and Poe, there were things we disagreed,
there is no one can ever dispute his many, wondrous accomplishments,
nor his passion for life, and his all-encompassing, humanitarian deeds.
