I met Jo Ann when I worked at the Brass Penny Restaurant in Gladstone, NJ beginning in April, 1978 and then left after college graduation in 1983 and was commissioned an Army officer. Served until 1990. I had started at 'The Penny' (as we called it) as a busboy, then once 18, became a waiter, and sometimes hosted. Worked with Jo Ann, sweet girl dedicated to doing the job right, and was a great influence to me, along with all of the other employees there. It was nice to hear that she had apparently lived a good life. I too share a love of the garden, and all things living, and all things green! God bless the family and loved ones!!!

Kathleen & family. I'm just seeing this and am heartbroken to hear of Jo Ann's passing. I remember her from P-G school but didn't get to know her until we worked together at The Brass Penney. She was so very well organized and tried to make things as easy as possible for us in the back of the house. My prayers and condolences to you and your family. Gloria

It is hard to find words at this time of your passing, hard to believe that you are actually gone. Myself, like many others, are heartbroken at the thought that our paths will never cross again here on earth.
You were a wonderful person, caring and loving while never complaining. You gave true meaning to the word "Professional" to the Hospitality Industry.
At the Brass Penny, you were the catalyst, nucleus and principal reason that employee turnover was almost nonexistent. You cared about everyone who you worked with. The Brass Penny Family was and will always remain close and together but JoAnn, you were the glue that kept us together and made the work environment "FUN".
Go now and rest with the peace of the Lord, and remember our paths will cross again! Again, in heaven above. JoAnn, go before us and find another Brass Penny Restaurant for your family of friends you have for the moment left behind!
God Bless You, JoAnn.

JoAnn I can't start to believe that you have already left us and joined our Father in heaven. I'm finding words hard to express my feelings for you and your families grieving at the sudden loss of a loved family member. You and I had so much love together way back then with our young lives and working together at the Brass Penny. I can only imagine that someday we will meet again in perpetuity and catch up on things, I wish you only peace, happiness and eternal life knowing that you suffer no longer.

Dear Jo Ann, I will miss you terribly. I will always remember your warm smile, your piercing blue eyes, your gentle manner, your kindness, your love of animals, your fun loving nature and of course, your never ceasing friendship. We had such good times together, working at the Brass Penny, swimming at Hacklebarney Park, tramping all over Peapack, Bernardsville and Basking Ridge and later the shore haunts, Point Pleasant, Belmar, Bradley Beach, even Asbury Park. I will miss visiting you in Brick, or anywhere for that matter, and will always think of you with love and fondness. Rest in Peace my dear friend.
My condolences to everyone else who loved Jo Ann.
