Obituary of Alice Fisher Potts

Alice Potts of Brookside passed away on Monday, November 2, 2020.  She was 104.

She was born in Athenia (Clifton), NJ, on February 19, 1916 to Annabel and George Fisher.

Alice moved to Brookside with her late parents, two brothers, George Jr. and Ramond, and sister Millicent, to the family farm in Brookside. Alice married Roland Potts, who predeceased her on October 12, 1937. They worked Woodland Farm for many years raising chicken, sheep, and pigs, as well as raising a variety of vegetables. Alice also raised collies, having kept several as pets.

She enjoyed working with flowers and gardening. After working in a variety of flower shops and greenhouses, her desire to own her own business led to the Village Flower Shop in Mendham, from which she retired at age 85.

Alice taught Sunday School in the Brookside Church for over 25 years. She was instrumental is establishing the Women's Auxiliary and Junior Auxiliary for the Brookside Fire Department, assisting the needs of the volunteers. She was also a girl scout leader.

Alice is survived by two daughters, Carole Durna of Hackettstown, NJ, and Sharon Gunderman of DuBois, PA. She is also survived by six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her grandson Raymond Durna.  

Memorial Donations may be made to the Brookside Fire Department or the Brookside First Aid Squad.

A private family service will be held.  She will be laid to rest at Hilltop Cemetery.
