Obituary of Frances Marie Chuhinko

BEDMINSTER - Frances Marie Chuhinko died peacefully at home on Wednesday, July 20, 2011, surrounded by her family. She was 94. Frances was born March 8, 1917 in Philadelphia to the late John Francis Campbell and Winifred F. K. O'Byrne. She was a resident of Bedminster for 48 years, having previously resided in West Orange, NJ and Manhasset, NY. She also spent summers at homes in Normandy Beach and Mantoloking, NJ, and winters on Singer Island in Florida. She was a member of the Parish of St. Brigid and St. Elizabeth churches in Peapack and Far Hills. Frances married John E. Chuhinko on April 29, 1943 in Philadelphia, and was his devoted wife until his death in 2009. Mrs. Chuhinko was a world traveler and enjoyed touring with family and friends. Known to have "the luck of the Irish," especially while out on the deep blue sea, Frances won many Big Game Fishing Tournaments throughout Southern Florida and the Bahama Islands. She was the recipient of the Angler of the Year Award at the Old Port Cove Yatch Club for several seasons. She was also involved in many charitable causes through volunteer work and serving on various committees. She was chairman of the Bedminster-Pluckemin Area Cancer Crusade. She is survived by her five children, John F. Chuhinko and his wife Suzanne of Tewksbury Twp., Winifred Mortenson and her husband Christopher of Vero Beach FL, Valerie Levanchy-Krienke and her husband Robert of Bernardsville, Mark Chuhinko and his wife Maryann of Washington Twp., and Frances Hildreth of Oldwick; by thirteen grandchildren, Kimberly D'Angelo, Jessica Katchen, Scott Chuhinko, Jonathan Mortenson, John Oliver Levanchy, Daniel Chuhinko, Matthew Levanchy, Christopher Mortenson, Andrew Levanchy, Jennifer Levanchy, Luke Levanchy, Mary Frances Chuhinko, and Frances Hildreth; nine great-grandchildren, Garrett Chuhinko, Casey Chuhinko, Bobby D'Angelo, Mark D'Angelo, Winifred Katchen, Megan Chuhinko, May Katchen, Mia D'Angelo, and Matthew Chuhinko. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Brigid R. C. Church, on Main Street in Peapack on Saturday, July 23, 2011 at 9:30 AM. Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, Mt. Airy Road, in Basking Ridge immediately following Mass.
