Obituary of Sally Griscavage Florek
Sally Griscavage Florek of Newark and Mendham NJ and Wilkes-Barre, PA, beloved Mother, Aunt and adopted Grandma Sally to many, passed away peacefully on April 15, 2020.
She was born on August 1, 1920 in Wilkes-Barre PA to the late Martha (Gadomski) and Joseph Griscavage. She was married to Charles Danyi and Frank Florek both of whom preceded her in death.
During World War II Sally worked at Western Electric on quartz crystal making possible the radio communication between Allied aircraft and military units. Later in life she worked as a bookkeeper.
Sally loved to dance, especially the polka, and loved to travel – she was the original galavanter – never missing an opportunity to be with people and see the beauty in the world. She loved her family and friends dearly.
Sally is survived by her daughter Phyllis (Ken Bennett) and is predeceased by sisters Mary (Leonard) Dietz, Eleanor (Stanley) Swantkowski, Helen (Lou) Cashen, Martha (Steve) Bigus and brothers Stanley (Helen) Griscavage, Frank (Stephie) Griscavage, Joseph (Ann) Griscavage and John (Margie) Griscavage.
A prayer service and interment will take place at St. Mary’s cemetery, 1594 S Main St., Wilkes-Barre.
A celebration of life will be held on August 1, 2020 which had been planned as her 100th Birthday.
