Obituary of Thomas Paré

Thomas Edward Paré (91) passed away on April 10, 2020, at St. Clare’s Hospital in Denville, NJ.
 

Born in Brooklyn, New York, to Lauréanne (LaFleur) and Alphonse Paré, Tom resided in Brooklyn for 76 years before retiring to Rhinebeck (NY), then Darnestown (MD), Potomac (MD) and Mendham (NJ).
 

Tom graduated from Fordham University with a Bachelors and a Double Masters Degrees in Biology and Chemistry.  He took over the family printing business, first Clifton Place Printing, then BDT Printing, both in Brooklyn.
 

Tom married Elizabeth Susan Gilhooley, “Sue”, on October 15, 1955 and they spent 59 wonderful years together. Their happiest moments took place at their lakehouse in Chateaugay, NY where “Pop” would play with his grandchildren and enjoy trips on his powerboat up and down Lake Chateaugay.


Tom was an easygoing family man. He loved dogs, doing the New York Times daily crossword puzzle and baseball, especially the Brooklyn Dodgers, the Mets and Nats. He devoted his life to caring for his parents, his wife, children and grandchildren.
 

Tom was preceded in death by his wife, Sue, his brothers Ambrose Paré, Francis Paré, his sister Jeannette McGorty, his dear cousin, Robert Nantel, and his parents. He is survived by his brother, Edward Paré; his children: Ellen Paré Phillips of Dublin, Ireland, John Paré (Deborah) of Baltimore, MD, Alice Paré of Darnestown, MD, Susan Paré Miller (Peter) of Potomac, MD, Jeanne Paré, MD (Peter Colford) of Mendham, NJ, Thomas Paré, Jr. (Diana) of Mountain View, CA, and David Paré (Youn-Hee) of Brooklyn, NY; and twelve grandchildren: Scout Paré-Phillips, Aidan Paré, Russell Paré, Elizabeth Paré, Samantha Miller, Christian Miller, Kerry Paré Colford, Claire Paré, Thomas E. Paré III, Julia Paré, Grace Paré and David Paré, along with many nieces and nephews.

 

A private burial will take place at All Souls Cemetery in Germantown, Maryland.
