Obituary of Helen Carter Abel

Helen C. Abel (aka Helen E. Carter, MD) gynecologist, 79, died of complications from pancreatic cancer on June 25th in Dover, NJ. Graduate of Scarsdale High School, Wellesley College and Cornell Medical College, she practiced for over 50 years in Elizabeth, NJ. She and her husband Robert R. Abel, MD frequented Amagansett and Saranac Lake, NY for more than 40 years. Their love of nature and travel took them on many trips overseas. She was a vital force in the extended Abel family, and her absence will be deeply felt. She is survived by her three children: Alice A. Boushie, Carter G. Abel, MD and Kathryn D. Abel, PhD and by seven grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the following organizations that were very dear to Helen and her husband.
