It is appropriate that God would call Sr. Gemma home on Valentine’s Day. I first met Sr. Gemma at Delone Catholic High School in 1963. Sister was the Director of Activities and taught Mathematics. Immediately, we had close bond even though I was never in one of her classes. My connection was as a member of her student activities group. In 1967, I graduated and Sr. Gemma was transferred at the same time. Sister informed me of her assignment change following our practice for the graduation exercises. Needless to say, our eyes were not dry. Sister was a remarkable woman with many qualities and a devoted Sister of Christian Charity. As I remember Sr. Gemma, three words come to mind: “Teach, Love & Inspire”. We have been close friends for 57 years. I will never forget her kindness to me. My sincere sympathy to the Sisters of Christian Charity, her sister Sophie, niece Romaine, niece Gemma and nephew John.
