Will was one of the sweetest people I’ve ever met in my life. He made school more bearable, as I looked forward to his smile first period. I will miss his voice, laugh, and light so much. Love and miss you forever bud.

Will had a heart of gold. He lived for making people smile and laugh. This is so sudden and sad, I can't even believe this is real. Although, I know he is somewhere at peace. I am happy that he is at peace, because that was the struggle of his short life with us. This sounds cliche, but his spirit will truly live on. His goofy energy and relentless positivity will never die, and everyone will smile when they think back to him. Rest Easy Will <3

Will was a great and genuine person. I met Will last year in Spanish and he'd always make me laugh. He was a great person to talk to and I've had some great memories with him. I miss you Will! Wish you didn't have to go so soon. I'll see you again one day!

As a local parent support coordinator of ASPEN (Asperger-Autism Spectrum Education Network) I want to extend my profoundest condolences and sympathy to William's family. His tribute was so moving and so true -- only those who know and love someone on the spectrum can fully appreciate the daily challenges faced by the individual and his or her family, especially during the stressful adolescent years. Please know that there is a community of parents that can appreciate how difficult this time is, but also how much love and care you have in your hearts. Our prayers are with you. Elizabeth Yamashita

Will was always Will, pure and simple and raw. When he was happy, everyone knew it. When he was mad, well, everyone knew it too. He wore his heart on his sleeve. He loved football, always remembered everyone’s birthday and maybe even half birthday and loved spending time with my kids and our other family friends. We will so miss you, Will. May you be at peace.

During my first year at Newmark School, I didn’t really know him. At that time, I was in 4th grade, and I really only interacted with the kids in my own classroom. But that next school year, after witnessing how comedic he was, I finally introduced myself and we became friends. I really liked his personality, I really liked his sense of humor, and over time, I started to develop a crush on him. And while I was sure my feelings for him were unrequited, by the time I was in 6th grade, he proved me wrong when he confessed having a crush on me. That’s when we started “dating” for a short while, “on-again/off-again” till we figured we were just better off as friends. I was his first kiss, which is kinda odd to state on something like this, but I’m telling this because I tend to consider him my first kiss too. I’m grateful for the the things I learned about him I hadn’t realize during the beginning of our friendship...like how his birthday was my half-birthday, (which I find really neat,) and how he technically wasn’t younger than me even though I was a grade above him, but was months older. It was during 6th grade I learned we were both born the same year! And even though while I was in 7th grade there was some drama causing a rift between us, by the time I got into 8th grade, all was good and he was treating better, and I was happy...but at the end of that school year, my parents and I were going to move to Georgia to be closer to my Uncle and his kids, so I wasn’t sure when the next time I’d see him or any of my other friends after the move. I had FaceTimed him a few times after moving far away, but it turns out I’m not really good at keeping in touch with others. I was hoping to see him the next time I go to NJ, which I’ve expressed to him, and now I’m disappointed that the probability of that is now impossible. While he wasn’t perfect, (just like anyone,) he was fun to be around, and good friend...and it wasn’t even too long ago since the last time I texted him! On December 14th, using Snapchat, he expressed how he wishes to get a cat like my cat, (a cat that I’ve happened to adopt 2017,) and I was wishing him luck, hoping the best for him..! He was too young, with his whole life ahead of him! I’m really sad that he is gone now. And I feel so much sorrow for his entire family, as they now have to deal with the devastation on losing a loved one so young. It’s really depressing just thinking about it. My condolences to y’all, and I hope for Will to rest in peace.

I met Will at The Newmark School in 3rd grade, and I had the wonderful fortune of considering him to be a great friend, a supportive teammate, and a kind human being. Back then, I remember we bonded over SpongeBob, video games, and our several years of participation on the school basketball team. From the very beginning of our long-lasting friendship, I always held in high regard his gentle, understanding nature and his genuine willingness to lend a helping hand, and I still do today. I hope that he is now in peace.

I remember Will as being one of my first friends I ever had at school. I remember one year for Wills birthday he had a game truck and laser tag and everyone there had a great time. It was so much fun. Will was one of my best friends I remember talking about Football and Basketball with him and always laughing together on FaceTime and OoVoo. Will is always going to have a spot in my heart and I will always remember him and love him like a brother he always made everyone around him smile and laugh. I’m always grateful for Will and every memory we shared together.

This is one of the most genuine, beautifully written tributes I've ever read. I remember Will from first grade, when I taught across the hall from him. He was a such a special boy, who had his own unique way of making us all smile. Thinking of you and wishing you strength in the days and months ahead. - Tiffany (Fiumara) Reed, MTES
