We are saddened and sorry for the loss of your father, grandfather and brother.
I was privileged to be Dave's classmate and section mate at the U S Merchant Marine Academy, and especially memorable is a road trip with him and fellow section mates Martin Mason and Bill Cratty in the summer between second and first class years.
Carol Ann and I appreciated Dave's service as best man at our wedding, and I was honored to serve as an usher at his and Jan's.
We are thankful for good memories of encounters at various times over the years.

Dave and I were roommates for 2nd Class year and shared many good memories including his stories of his previous experiences. He regaled me and our section mates with his stories of jobs he had in his 'younger days', he was 'The Old Man' to us. Some of his jobs were as a Coal Passer on a Great Lakes Steamer and as a circus roustabout. Some of these were probably actually true.
Between our 2nd and 1st Class years Dave, Bill Cratty, Mike Poyner and me borrowed my parents Studebaker and drove to Chicago, Corpus Christi and finally Ajo, AZ. Great trip!
We will miss you Dave but still have the memories.
