Obituary of Phyllis Marie Pergola

Phyllis Marie Pergola (nee Roiland) passed away on September 18, 2019. She was 83 years old. 

Born on November 17, 1935 to parents Ralph and Marie (nee Parilla) Roiland, Phyllis lived most of her life in Brooklyn NY. She attended Ft. Hamilton High School in Bay Ridge. It was in Brooklyn that she met her beloved husband James, who survives her. In 2000, Phyllis and James moved to the Upper East Side of New York City, where they happily remained until shortly before her death. 

Phyllis was a doting mother, who delighted in spending time with family. Her happiest moments were spent at weekly Sunday dinners playing cards with her extended family in their close-knit Brooklyn neighborhood. She loved to shop for gifts for her children and grandchildren and take them to lunch. Known for her quiet generosity, she donated to family, friends, and strangers in need. In later years, she enjoyed visiting Atlantic City in the company of her many friends. Kind and caring, she found meaning in helping those friends and her family.

Phyllis is predeceased by her parents and sister Gladys. She is survived by her devoted husband James, her brother Ralph, daughters Caroline and Suzanne, and grandchildren Madison and Graham.
