Obituary of Jeffrey A. Cook

Jeffrey A. Cook passed away on Thursday, June 2, 2011 at St. Clares's Hospital, Denville after a valiant battle with cancer. He was 70. Born in Bronx, NY he lived in Lincoln Park and New Vernon before moving to Morris Township 13 years ago. Jeff was the proud owner of Mendham Hardware and Paint Co. in Mendham for 38 years before he retired in 2005. He was a respected businessman who gave the community a family owned hardware store which prided itself on service as every customer was greeted with warmth and humor. He was a staunch supporter of many Mendham sports organizations, including softball, basketball and little league. His family will remember him as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend who loved his family, friends and customers. He was his grandchildren's #1 sports fan. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Christa, of Morris Township, one daughter, Susanne Lovisolo and her husband, John, of Allendale, and his beloved grandchildren Caroline, Christopher and Alexandra. He is also survived by his brother, Douglas Cook, and his wife Barbara of Pompton Plains, NJ and his two nephews David and Robert Cook. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 1 to 3 and 5-8pm at the Bailey Funeral Home, 8 Hilltop Rd., Mendham. Funeral Service Monday 10:30am at the Hilltop Presbyterian Church. Interment Mendham Hilltop Cemetery. The family would like to express sincere appreciation to the doctors, nurses and staff in the Radiation Oncology Department at St. Clare's in Denville.
