Obituary of Sr. Marion Utz

Sister Marion Utz, Sister of Christian Charity, entered eternal life on Thursday, November 29^th, 2018 at the Motherhouse in Mendham, New Jersey.  Sister Marion died at the age of 100, the eldest member of the community.  Born in Scranton, Pennsylvania, on November 19, 1918, Sister Marion was the daughter of Albert and Mary (Wilcon)) Janson.

Sister entered the community of the Sisters of Christian Charity on August 28^th, 1936.  She made her first vows on August 21, 1937 and her Final Profession of Vows on August 20, 1945.

Over the years Sister labored in the field of Catholic school education both as an elementary and secondary school teacher in Catholic Schools in Pennsylvania.  After training in the field of business and finance, she was missioned as Business Administrator at Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill, PA,  In 1978 she was appointed Provincial Treasurer and served in this ministry for several terms and then as an assistant in the Motherhouse Finance Office for several years.  For health reasons she transferred to Holy Family Convent in Danville, PA until she moved to the new Motherhouse in Mendham in May 2018.

Sister Marion is survived by her niece Beverly and her nephew John.

Viewing at the Motherhouse will be on Wednesday, December 5^th from 2-4 pm with evening prayer at   7 pm.

Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, December 6 at 11 am in the chapel of Mary Immaculate at the Motherhouse in Mendham.  Interment in Holy Cross Cemetery,  Mendham, New Jersey.

In lieu of flowers, donation in Sister’s memory can be made to the Sisters of Christian Charity, Mendham, NJ.
