During the late eighties and early nineties I was the CEO of Sheppards one of the oldest London stockbrokers. The business was owned as to 50% by me and other senior members of the firm while the balance was held by a French Bank BAII (subsequently absorbed by BNP) Stretch sat on my board and was of immeasurable value in helping us deal with the French. He was able to help us deliver tough decisions in a way that carried conviction and always in a polite and often humorous manner. I am very sorry to have missed funeral.

Stretch was one of a kind. I just saw this obituary. I spent much time with the family and Stretch was a true mensch. Always treated me like a son. Dinners or golf or just chatting. I have only good memories. My best to Donna and Tom . Sincerely, Gary Bernstein

Thank you for one of the best summers I ever had as a young girl growing up in New Jerswy. I was able to play with the dollhouses, dance in your ballroom/piano room, go see Raiders of the Lost Ark with your daughter Susan (even though I wasn't of age), spend a great time skinny dipping at night in your pool with my Tia Eduarda Norte Silva, who took me to get my ears pierced - even though my mom said no and spent time with my Tio Chico. Thank you for a wonderful memory Mr. Gardiner - may you Rest in Peace ❤
