Obituary of Rocco Colantuono
Rocco Colantuono passed away on Nov. 2, 2018 at RWJ Somerset Medical Center. He was 93.
Born in Lioni, Italy he came to the US in 1936 and settled in Peapack.
Rocco was a Guitar Teacher for many years at Colantuono Guitar Studio in Peapack. He had many noteworthy achievements as a musician. He opened for Jackie Gleason and was the founder of the band Rocky Colon and the Drifting Country Boys. He also playedguitar at St. Lawrence Church in Chester at Saturday Evening Mass.
He served in the Army during WWII.
He was a longtime parishioner at St. Brigid Church in Peapack and where he was a founding member of the Little Flower Legions.
He was predeceased by his wife Ruth, his daughter Maria Rose Colantuono, his grandson Steven Buczek. and his sister Mary Groenwald and Nell Recce.
He is survived by his children Anthony Colantuono and his son David of Peapack, Rocco Colantuono Jr. and his children Nicholas and Kathryn of Flemington, Therese Buczek and her husband Richardof Hackettstown, Albert Colantuono and his wife Rosemary and their children Elizabeth and Alexander of Long Valley, Rosalie Lindquist and husband Jeffrey of Bedminster and their children Danielle Forgione and Samatha Abbate .
Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4-8pm at the Bailey Funeral Home, 176 Main St. Peapack. Funeral Mass Wednesday 10:30 am at St. Brigid Church Peapack. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery, Basking Ridge.
