Obituary of George Nietzel

George R. Nietzel died on January 24, 2008 at Morristown Memorial Hospital, he was 85. Born in New York City, he lived in Baltimore Maryland and Florida before moving to Mendham in 1970. George was a Graduate of Florida Southern University with a degree in Chemical Engineering? And was a member of Lamba Chi Alpha fraternity. He served in the Army during WWII in the Chemical Warfare Unit. He worked for U.S. Silica in West Virginia for 20 years before retiring in 1988, prior to that he worked for the US Government as a Food Inspector for many years. George was a past president of Mendham Rotary Club International. He was also a member of the Mendham Pastime Club, and the American Ceramic Assoc. His wife Rita, and his sister Helen died previously. Survivors include his daughter Abby Molinaro and her husband Jim of Bernardsville, two grandchildren Justin and Madison Molinaro, one brother Robert Nietzel of CA And several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Friday Feb 6, 2008 at the Bailey Funeral Home 8 Hilltop rd., Mendham, from 4-8pm. Funeral Mass Saturday 10:30 am at St. Joseph Church Mendham.
