Wayne and I were classmates and company mates at the US Naval Academy. He was a warm friend and fine gentleman, in addition to being an outstanding midshipman leader. He set a high standard for all of us to follow. We will miss him.
I want to express my sincere condolences to all of his family.

As not only a classmate but a member of the 9th Company, I was deeply schocked to hear of Wayne's passing. He was a terrific guy and our 3rd Battalion commander. I have never forgotten his command "3rd Battalion - Forward, Right Turn - March" that he shouted in his inimitable Georgia drawl when we were at P-rade on Worden Field.
Those of our age know that the end is drawing near, but when it happens to one of our classmates - one with whom we spent four intimate years of our life - it makes you catch your breath - and shed a tear.
Condolences to Wayne's family, and Rest in Peace, good friend.

Wayne was one of the finest men I have known. While our association was only at the Academy, his personality has had an impact on me throughout my life.

Linda, EWWIII and Family,
Please accept our condolences from the entire Rap clan in Boston. I know how sensitive this loss can be.
There is a quote from a famous author that reminds me of EWJr. " It matters not what someone is born, but what they grow up to be." I think that we all saw some of who we wanted to be in him.
I think I speak for the group when I say that some of the best times we had in Mendham surrounded hanging out at your house and having your father entertain us with his antics. I some of the funniest moments came from those times.
You are all in our prayers!!
