Obituary of Richard M Boudria

Richard M. Boudria, Executive who Transformed Telecommunications, Dies at 70.

Richard M. Boudria, who transformed his company BCN Telecom Inc. into one of the country’s most prominent telecommunication solutions providers, passed away on May 15, 2018 at his home in Mendham, NJ.  He was 70.

Mr. Richard M. Boudria also known by many as “Dick” founded BCN Telecom in 1994 and served as its Chairman, Chief Executive Officer and President until 2016. He remained Chairman of the Board until his final days.

Mr. Boudria was a successful entrepreneur who very well understood business aspirations and quickly saw creative solutions to business constraints. Prior to founding BCN, he worked for Merrill Lynch, Xerox and GTE (now Verizon) over a span of 20 years, gaining insight into finance, sales, marketing and strategic planning.

Mr. Boudria was known for ceaselessly working on finding new opportunities for his company that is today a leading provider of technology solutions focused on simplifying complexity for multi-location businesses.

Richard Boudria was very proud that for almost a quarter of a century, BCN delivered best-in-class solutions domestically and internationally for thousands of business customers.

Boudria was immensely loyal to his employees whose commitment, understanding of the overall business and deep expertise in turn resulted into successful corporate growth.

Mr. Boudria thrived working at a degree that would have bothered an ordinary person. 70-hour work-weeks were the norm.

In addition to running his business and being with his family, Mr. Boudria counted among his greatest passions playing golf. He hit the links with his close friends and family. Many say that he treated life like he did golf: ‘be honest and fair.’

Richard M. Boudria was born on December 17, 1947 in Hartford, CT. He received his Bachelor’s Degree from St. Johns University, the Roman Catholic university located in New York City and his master’s degree.

He volunteered and served honorably in the United States Marine Corps as an airborne qualified infantry officer, posting in Cuba, Panama and the Mediterranean. He was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal with campaign star and other citations for service in the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged at the rank of Captain.

He lived many years in New York City and Manhasset, NY before making Mendham, NJ his and his wife Kathleen’s home 23 years ago. Richard was very active in the community and supported many causes, in particular the local Catholic Church organization.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Kathleen Burns Boudria, his daughter Katherine with her husband Philip Selkirk of New York, and his two sons Richard Jr. with his fiancée, Danielle Bouchard, of New York and George Boudria with his wife Kathryn of New York and their two baby grandchildren George and James that Mr. Boudria cherished.
