PEAPACK - Thomas P Dante died on Thursday, March 31, 2011 at Care One Madison in Morristown after a long illness. He was 84. Born to the late Patsy and Mary (Pacillo) Dante on October 20, 1926, he was a life-long resident of Peapack. Mr. Dante was a veteran of World War II, serving with the United States Navy from 1944 to 1946. He was a member and past post commander of American Legion Post 216 of Peapack. Mr. Dante was a self-employed plumbing contractor, and owner of Tom Dante Plumbing and Heating from 1962 until retiring in 1992. After retirement, he was employed as the plumbing sub-code official and construction official for Chester Township and Chester Borough; and was the plumbing inspector for Warren Township, North Plainfield, Harding Township, and Far Hills. He also served as a member of the Peapack-Gladstone Board of Health. He was a member of the Plumber's Union Local 300 of Bernardsville; a member of St. Brigid's R. C. Church in Peapack all of his life, and a member of the St. Vincent Society of St. Brigid's; a member of the Master Plumber's Association of NJ; and a member and past president of the Lions Club of Bedminster. Predeceased by his wife Mary (Baldassare) in 1995, he is survived by his daughter Barbara Lynch and her husband Robert of Bedminster; his granddaughter Meredith Lynch-Rankin and her husband Michael J. of West Caldwell; six brothers, Patsy of Bridgewater; Anthony of Georgia; Robert of Chester; Augustus of Neshanic Station; Leonard of Boonton; and Joseph of Washington NJ; a great granddaughter Alexandra Mary Rankin and a great grandson Michael Thomas Rankin whom he cherished deeply; and many nieces and nephews.
