Obituary of Marie Q. Collins

Marie Frances Quinn Collins of Mendham died February 7, 2011. Marie was born to the late Joseph and Mary (Mae Barrett) Quinn in Jessup, Pennsylvania. She was a graduate of St. Mary's Assumption High School, and Lackawanna Business College, both in Scranton, PA. She worked as a secretary for the Veterans Administration until she met and married Robert C. Collins in 1956. She later worked for Robinson's Drug Store, Mendham, and AT&T. They had five children together. She was a devoted mother and wife and a good friend to all. Family and friends are what Marie treasured most in life. Nothing meant more to her than to spend time talking, visiting and celebrating life with them. "C'ead Mile Failte" (A Hundred Thousand Welcomes) was the Gaelic sentiment that greeted all to her home and if you were not a friend when you entered you surely were one by the time you left. Marie is preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Mae, an infant son, Robert Clifford Jr. and son, Robert Charles who passed in October of last year. She is survived by her husband, Robert of Mendham, three daughters and sons-in-law: Mary Beth & Jeffery Sawyer of Bethel, Connecticut; Maura & Stephen Goessling of Esko, Minnesota and Kathleen & Jamie Kiessling of Rockaway and daughter-in-law Donna Collins of Mendham. She was blessed with 10 grandchildren: Kali, Hannah and Connor Sawyer; Raleigh, Parker and Audrey Goessling; Moriah and Michaela Collins; and Quinn and Sean Kiessling. She is also survived by three sisters: Ann Cadden, Pittston, PA; Joan Cottone, Dunmore PA; Francis Hale, Altamonte Springs, FL; and two brothers: Joseph Quinn, Scranton, PA and Thomas Quinn, Dunmore, PA. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations to a charity of your choice in Marie's honor. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4-8pm at the Bailey Funeral Home, 8 Hilltop Rd., Mendham. A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday February 11th at St. Joseph's Church in Mendham, New Jersey. Burial will be immediately following at Hilltop Cemetery, Mendham, New Jersey
