Obituary of Gregor L Hetzel
Gregor Hetzel, 83, died at Holly Manor Nursing Home on January 27, 2011, a victim of Alzheimer's. He was born in Jersey City on May 9, 1927. Mr. Hetzel was a 1950 graduate of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and later The Princeton Graduate School, both in electrical engineering. He was a member of the technical staff at Bell Laboratories in Whippany and Holmdel for forty years. He also spent six years in the Detroit area as Bell Labs representative to Michigan Bell. Mr. Hetzel was a veteran of WWII having served in the Navy, retiring as Lieutenant Commander. He was a longtime member of the Presbyterian Church in Morristown. He was a member of the American Legion, the IEEE Engineering Society and the Retired Officer's Organization MOAA. Mr. Hetzel loved his dogs. He was a member of both the Irish Terrier Club of America and the Irish Terriers Club of New York for many years. He formerly bred and showed the breed. He also was a member of the Dachshund Club of New Jersey and bred mini dachshunds recently. He leaves his wife of over 56 years, Nancy and two daughters, Sandra Greenblatt (Arthur) of Ancaster, Ontario and Margot Graham (Scott) of Dallas, Texas and four grandchildren, Rosie and Lilly Greenblatt and Sam and Jed Graham. A memorial service will be held at The Presbyterian Church in Morristown on Thursday March 17th at 11:00 am.
